Applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job;
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and
- Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
This is a 10-week contract. The Social Media Content Creator will be responsible for developing, creating, and curating engaging and on-brand content for our social media platforms. This includes creating written, visual, and video content that effectively communicates our message, promotes our programs or products, and fosters engagement with our audience. The ideal candidate will be creative, detail-oriented, and have a deep understanding of social media trends and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation:
- Develop high-quality written, graphic, and video content for social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X.).
- Plan and create content that aligns with our brand’s voice, mission, and goals.
- Produce original content (images, videos, infographics, etc.) and curate third-party content relevant to our audience.
- Ensure that content is optimized for each platform and fits within platform-specific guidelines and trends (e.g., hashtags, stories, reels).
Social Media Strategy & Planning:
- Work with the Media and Content Coordinator to develop content strategies and social media campaigns.
- Create and maintain a social media content calendar to ensure a consistent and timely presence across platforms.
Engagement & Community Management:
- Monitor, track, and respond to comments, messages, and mentions across all social media platforms in a timely and engaging manner.
- Build and maintain relationships with followers and influencers within our community or industry.
- Proactively engage with followers to increase brand awareness and loyalty.
Brand Consistency:
- Ensure that all content is consistent with the brand’s visual identity, tone of voice, and messaging.
- Collaborate and create designs to ensure the visual aspects of content align with brand standards.
Analytics & Reporting:
- Monitor social media metrics, including engagement, reach, clicks, conversions, and audience growth.
- Provide regular reports on social media performance, analyze results, and suggest improvements or adjustments to strategies.
- Use insights and data to optimize future content and campaigns.
Collaboration & Content Campaigns:
- Work closely with other departments to align social media campaigns with larger organizational initiatives.
- Assist in developing and executing influencer or partnership campaigns, giveaways, and promotions.
- If applicable, assist with the creation of paid social media ads (Facebook Ads, Instagram Ads, etc.) and track their performance.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- Experience in Social Media, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Proven experience in social media content creation and management, preferably in a relevant industry.
- Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing tools (e.g., Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, or mobile apps like InShot).
Skills:
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in creating visual content, including photography, video, and graphics.
- Knowledge of social media best practices, including SEO for social platforms, engagement tactics, and platform algorithms.
- Ability to stay organized, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions:
- The position will require long working hours during the Northern Lights Festival
- Physical requirements may include standing, walking, and occasional lifting of materials or supplies for the festival.
