David Laronde is a Canadian Indigenous singer-songwriter and a proud Teme-Augama Anishnabai (Deep Water People) with roots anchored in the ancient pine forests and deep lakes of homeland territory: Lake Temagami in Northern Ontario, Canada.
David’s 2013 debut record, Right City Wrong Town, was nominated Best Blues Album by the Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards. 2015’s Under the Raven’s Wing, was a spiritual homecoming that was deeply personal and healing, further defining David as a gifted, contemporary songwriter and performer. With his most recent album, I Know I Can Fly, David is compassionate and courageous. The ancestral forces around him compelled David to respond to escalating numbers of teen suicide, relentless struggles of single mothers, and unjust over-incarceration of Indigenous men and women. I Know I Can Fly garnered David a Canadian Folk Music Award 2022 nomination for Indigenous Songwriter of the Year. The album is about personal freedom and personal sovereignty: Everyone has power.
