With sounds and rhythms from the heart of the African Bantu region, combined with jazz, blues and soul, Laetitia Zonzambé makes a unique music with its complex and diverse flavours that expresses her creativity. She uses her gifted and colourful voice to express universal human feelings. “There are no borders for those feelings,” she says. No borders for her music either, as she performed in popular venues such as the Francofolies of Montreal, The New Morning in Paris, the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago and the Vancouver Folk Festival. She is now touring nationally and internationally. Combining musical elements from the Central African vibe with jazz, blues and soul, Laetitia makes a ‘Sanza’, which is referenced in the title of her debut full-length album Sanza Soul. A “Sanza” is, in Sango (the language of the Central African Republic), a clothing made of different pieces of coloured fabrics. It symbolizes Laetitia’s artistic approach, which musical creation is inspired by assimilated elements over time. This project merges traditional accents and Bantu influences with soul, pop and rhythm n’ blues to carry the audience into an emotional universe with uniquely sweet and organic sounds.
